Tucked away on the 2017 album Love Yourself 承 Her is a song you won't find on the usual streaming tracklist. "Sea" was released as a hidden track on the album's physical edition, with no music video and no promotion, and that's exactly what made it one of the most special songs among ARMY.

RM explained he wanted to use the song to express feelings he'd carried since before their debut. At the center of "Sea" are two images, a desert and an ocean. The desert represents a period of uncertainty, failure, and fear that they might never make it, while the ocean represents what they'd been working toward for years, a success they didn't know if they'd ever actually reach.

By 2017, BTS was already living what they'd once only dreamed of. They'd won their first daesang, were filling bigger and bigger venues, and that year made it to the Billboard Music Awards for the first time. But "Sea" isn't a simple story about finding their ocean and everything turning out fine. The song still holds the fear that the ocean could turn back into a desert, and that what they'd worked so hard to earn could disappear one day.

That's exactly why the song hits even harder today. The members later spoke much more openly about their difficult beginnings, the uncertainty, and the pressure that came with success, and "Sea" had already put those feelings into words. The song was written at a moment when they could finally see how far they'd come, but still weren't sure how long any of it would last.

There's no official music video for "Sea," so we've linked the official LOVE YOURSELF Highlight Reel '起承轉結' from the same era alongside this article. The song itself is officially available on the physical edition of Love Yourself 承 Her, while the recordings you can find on YouTube are mostly unofficial uploads.

Maybe that's exactly why "Sea" belongs among the hidden songs. It was never meant for promotion or the charts, just as a small, personal story about what it looks like to find your ocean after years spent in the desert.
