The surprise songs that make every ARIRANG concert different

Once a tour starts, the setlist spreads among fans pretty fast. You can know in advance which songs are coming, but that doesn't mean you know what the show itself will be like. Every night has its own moments, its own atmosphere, its own small unplanned scenes. And on the ARIRANG tour, there are two songs that stay a genuine mystery until the encore.

After "Dynamite," the DJ plays a song that isn't part of the regular setlist. The audience doesn't know what's coming, and neither do the members. And that's where the whole thing gets a lot more fun.

Sometimes they remember the choreography right away, and sometimes they start glancing at each other and laughing because clearly no one's quite sure what comes next. Someone remembers a move first, the others pick it up immediately, and then come the teasing, the improvising, and their usual back-and-forth. You can tell they're having a great time themselves trying to recall songs and choreographies some of them haven't performed in years.

And the choice can really go in any direction. So far the surprise songs have included "Mikrokosmos," "I NEED U," "Spring Day," "Run," "Save Me," "Crystal Snow," "Pied Piper," "Baepsae," "Dionysus," "Just One Day," "No More Dream," "Attack on Bangtan," and plenty more. One night it might be a song everyone knows well from recent shows, and the very next night something that hasn't been on a setlist in a long time.

Given how many songs BTS has by now, two surprise songs are a great way to keep pulling pieces of the older discography back onto the stage. A single concert simply can't fit everything, especially now that a large part of the show belongs to ARIRANG, alongside the big hits and the songs a BTS concert is hard to imagine without.

Naturally, a little game quickly formed among those following the tour online. Right after a concert, fans check what was performed that night, and those still waiting for their own date can try to guess what might come up. Except even the list of previous concerts isn't a safe guide, since some songs do repeat.

So you can know the entire regular setlist by heart, watch footage from previous concerts, and prepare in advance for almost everything, but those two songs still stay a surprise until the very last moment.

At ARMY Adria we keep a list of every surprise song BTS has performed on the ARIRANG tour so far, by city and date. If you want to see what's already happened and what might still be waiting its turn, you can find the full list here.
