Some things just line up perfectly. BTS's first Los Angeles show landed right on Jungkook's birthday, so on September 1 he spent his 29th on the SoFi Stadium stage, with the other six members and a stadium full of ARMY. He couldn't have asked for a better celebration.

The birthday actually started well before the concert. Jungkook went out to dinner with V and j-hope, where a surprise was waiting for him. The restaurant's chef had prepared a cake and miyeok-guk, the seaweed soup traditionally eaten for birthdays in Korea. He later admitted on a Weverse Live that he hadn't expected either the cake or the soup, and praised the chef for going to so much trouble for him. V and j-hope took care of the rest, singing him Happy Birthday, while Jungkook thanked the chef more than once and even asked if he'd made the cake himself.

A few hours later, the celebration moved to the stadium. The atmosphere was already building from soundcheck, since ARMY had prepared banners and birthday hats, and when Jungkook saw what awaited him, he simply called the whole scene a birthday party.

The concert had its own share of small moments that make ARMY love nights like this. RM closed out his part in MIC Drop with a quick "JK, happy birthday," which immediately drew a smile out of Jungkook and the others. Then came the moment the whole stadium got to wish him well, as the members and the crowd sang Happy Birthday together while Jimin placed a birthday crown on his head. Jungkook bowed to the crowd singing to him, crown and all.

One moment in particular spread quickly among fans. Near the edge of the stage, Jungkook approached a fan in a wheelchair, gave her his shirt, then took off his own birthday crown and placed it on her head. Footage of the moment spread fast among fans.

The night was also special simply because of the return to SoFi Stadium itself. Their last time performing there was in late 2021, for the Permission to Dance On Stage concerts, and now they're back with the ARIRANG tour for four nights, September 1, 2, 5, and 6. The city marked the return officially too, declaring September 1 through 8 BTS Week, so the comeback to the stage and Jungkook's birthday landed in the very same, rather special week.

For Jungkook, the first day in Los Angeles started with a small surprise at a restaurant and ended in front of a packed stadium singing him Happy Birthday, in the middle of a show with the very people it all started with. The celebration continues September 2 with the second show, then two more nights on September 5 and 6.
