Jin's Fishing Trip for Jungkook's Birthday Ends Up as Jimin's Hoedeopbap

On the first night of the LA shows, Jin used part of his closing speech to talk about his favorite topic: fishing. He remembered catching a tuna in LA once before that was, in his words, incredible, and figured it was the perfect season to go again.

"OK JK, let's go!"

It was Jungkook's birthday, so Jin threw in a joke: if he caught a tuna, he'd take a photo of it and give him the fish as a birthday present.

A few days later he actually went fishing, on his own. Photos from the trip showed up on Instagram, including one where he's posing with a massive fish, with a caption joking that his fish photos always look photoshopped.

Except that biggest fish quickly became a problem, one he admitted to himself in the comments.

"Honestly, I didn't catch that big one."

V jumped in right away, since this is apparently not the first time.

"Did you photograph the captain's catch again?"

So that huge fish in the photo wasn't actually his, as Star News confirmed too. The rest of the photos show the trip wasn't a total wash though, and the proof showed up a few hours later, on Jimin's Story.

That same day, Jimin posted a photo of hoedeopbap, a Korean dish of rice, raw fish, and vegetables, with Jin's Super Tuna playing in the background, captioned: "Hoedeopbap made only from the fish Jin hyung caught and brought~~"

And that's very on-brand for Jin. Fishing hasn't been just a casual hobby of his for a while, one of those trips is literally how Super Tuna came to be. He never planned to write it, he just wanted to go fishing with BUMZU, and the song came together along the way.

Whether he actually caught the tuna he promised Jungkook, he hasn't confirmed yet, but we do know the birthday announcement from the stage really did get a follow-up at sea, and his real catch ended up on Jimin's plate.

Tonight it's back to work anyway. After two days off, BTS returns to SoFi Stadium for the third of four LA shows, with the final stop of the North American leg of the ARIRANG tour following on Sunday.
