BTS and SWIM in the running for two MTV VMAs

The nominations for this year's MTV VMAs are in, and SWIM landed BTS two of them! The song is up for Best K-Pop, but even more excitingly, it also made the shortlist for Song of the Year.

That second nomination is the big one. For Song of the Year, SWIM isn't just up against other K-pop acts, it's competing with some of the biggest songs that defined this year. After everything the song has done since it came out in March, it's great to see it land in one of the VMAs' main categories.

And there's a small extra BTS connection here too. Also among the Best K-Pop nominees is LE SSERAFIM's SPAGHETTI, which features j-hope. So Hobi has two songs to root for in the same category, SWIM with BTS and SPAGHETTI with LE SSERAFIM.

This year ARMY isn't just watching from the sidelines. The winners in both categories SWIM is nominated in are chosen by fan vote, and the good news is we can vote from Croatia too.

Every day we get 10 votes per category, so we can give all ten to SWIM for Song of the Year, then another ten for Best K-Pop. The next day the votes reset.

An even better window is Power Hour, when MTV doubles the vote count. It runs every day until September 24, from 7 to 8 PM our time, which means SWIM can get 20 votes per category during that hour.

Voting runs through September 25, and you can vote for SWIM in both categories below.

SWIM is already walking into the ceremony with one major American award under its belt. In May it won Song of the Summer at the American Music Awards, the same night BTS was named Artist of the Year.

MTV today might not be the channel we tune into for music videos anymore, but the VMAs have aged a lot better than classic music-video MTV. Last year's ceremony was watched by more than 5.5 million viewers, and fan voting logged a staggering 2.5 billion votes.

This year's MTV VMAs will be held on September 27 in Los Angeles.
