BTS on Disney+: everything you can watch

Alongside the music and the concerts, a big part of BTS's story has been captured in documentaries and reality series, and several of them can be found on Disney+. From the story of the whole group and major concerts to solo projects and members' travels, the lineup is actually pretty solid.

The most comprehensive is the 2023 documentary series BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star, which traces BTS's first ten years across eight episodes. It starts with how they came together and their early years, moves through their rise to fame and the challenges that came with success, the pandemic and the pause in concerts, and their return to a live audience. All seven members speak in the series, and their interviews are paired with a lot of archival footage from different periods of their career. If someone is just getting seriously into BTS, this is probably the best place to start.

For anyone who'd rather jump straight to a concert, there's BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage – LA. The concert film was shot during their shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in November 2021, when BTS finally returned to a large live audience after the pandemic break.

Two solo documentaries have also landed on Disney+. SUGA: Road to D-DAY follows SUGA while he works on the album D-DAY and travels from Seoul through Tokyo to Las Vegas and other cities in search of musical inspiration. j-hope IN THE BOX follows roughly 200 days in the making of his first solo album, Jack In The Box, from writing and preparing the songs to his performance at Lollapalooza.

If you'd rather see the members outside the classic BTS format, there's Are You Sure?! with Jimin and Jung Kook. They filmed the first season in 2023, right before leaving for their military service, traveling through New York State, Jeju, and Sapporo. After returning from the military, the story continued in a second season, taking them through Switzerland and Vietnam.

IN THE SOOP: Friendcation is a bit different, since it isn't about all of BTS. It centers on V and his well-known Wooga crew: Park Seo-jun, Choi Woo-shik, Park Hyung-sik, and Peakboy. The five friends head to Goseong for a few days, and the series feels a lot more like a relaxed trip with friends than a classic idol reality show.
