ARMY proudly stands behind BTS after their Grammy decision

Even days after BTS announced they were withdrawing from the Grammys, the reactions haven't died down, if anything they're only growing stronger. What started as a piece of news has turned into a real wave of pride and support from fans around the world, who met their group's decision not with disappointment, but with admiration.

On social media, ARMY has made its position clear: standing with BTS. Instead of mourning a missed award, the dominant feeling has been that the group did the right thing. Fans have pointed out that BTS could almost certainly have won the new Asian category, but deliberately turned it down, because accepting it would mean permanently pushing Asian artists outside the main categories. Many wrote that they're watching a group that once wanted a Grammy more than anything, and has now realized it's bigger than one. One thought that spread widely across the internet summed it all up: some artists spend an entire career waiting for the call, and BTS simply decided they no longer needed it.

The support didn't stop at words. Fans went a step further and started calling on other artists to join the boycott in solidarity, arguing that any K-pop act that eagerly submits its music now would be betraying a shared stance. On Korean forums and social platforms, the support was nearly unanimous, mixed with resentment over what many believe was years of the Academy using BTS to boost ceremony ratings while never actually giving them the award. For a large part of the fandom, this was the moment years of built-up frustration turned into pride.

On the Academy's side, the response came in two waves. First, on July 29, its CEO Harvey Mason Jr. spoke up, saying he was saddened by the decision but understood and respected it as a fellow musician. The next day, fans noticed something that stirred up a new wave of anger: videos of BTS's Dynamite and Butter performances, among the most-viewed on the Academy's own pages, became unavailable, showing only error messages instead. Whether they were deliberately removed or just temporarily down hasn't been confirmed, but a large part of the fandom read it as a petty move from a sore loser, which only fanned the support for the group even further.

What comes through most clearly in all of this is just how firmly ARMY stands behind BTS. At the moment the group turned down one of the biggest awards in the world on principle, fans didn't hesitate for a second, they turned that decision into a source of pride instead. For many, that's exactly what their relationship is about: mutual trust, where the group trusts its fans and the fans trust their group, even when that means turning their back on something they'd wanted for years.
